Janet Beck is a candidate for Southampton Trustee. Since 1686, only men have been elected to this post. It is a job of stewardship and good management, not one of hip boots and waders.
Janet Beck has an advanced degree in Educational Administration and spent the last 15 years of her educational career responsible for 60 Alternative High Schools operated by the New York City Central Board of Education. Her experience in planning, training and managing programs will be an asset as a Trustee.
For 50 years Janet spent summers on Dune Road in Westhampton at the edge of Moriches Bay. She spent time clamming, scalloping, fishing, and exploring the wonders of the the creeks, witnessing extraordinary change. Janet realizes the importance of access to ocean beaches for all is a key to maintaining tourism that drives our local economy.
The administrative experience plus years of active community work with the CAC-West; organizing three art shows each year for the Greater Westhampton Chamber of Commerce, demonstrates clearly that she has management and organizational skills. Her time volunteering for Rotary and Maureen’s Haven shows her dedication to our community.
The Trustee position requires great care, dedication, and considerable skill in managing scarce and fragile resources. I offer my experience and interest in developing a long range plan to improve and maintain our town’s waters for future generations.
Janet Beck asks for your vote on November 8, 2011 to make real change and bring new energy and ideas to the Southampton Trustees.

Janet Beck is the best candidate for Southampton Trustee. A strong voice for our community and a leader that we need.
