No stronger American creed exists than the one that informs us to work hard, play
by the rules, make your way in the world, and get ahead. I applaud Nancy Graboski for her success as a former Republican
candidate and as a member of the Southampton Town Board [“Graboski Gets the Boot from Town GOP,” May 24]. She made
her way and got ahead.
Unfortunately for Ms. Graboski, she eventually ran into Skip Heaney’s rules. It’s apparent that Supervisor Heaney
brooks no independence—lockstep, let us march ahead, is Supervisor Heaney’s credo. Work hard, get ahead? No, rather,
it’s Skip’s way or the highway.
Speculation asserting that Ms. Graboski was denied the Republican nomination for Town Board due to her vote on
a Planning Board appointment smacks of old-time politics, where public agendas are thwarted and private ones flourish
by the machinations of behind-thescenes power brokers.
What’s next? Brookhaven moves east?
